Divert, a Massachusetts-based startup focused on converting food waste into renewable energy, has hired a seasoned in-house leader with IPO and M&A experience as its first general counsel.

Kathleen Patton, former general counsel at job marketplace and social platform Jobcase, took the legal reins at Divert earlier this month. She was also previously general counsel at CarGurus, where she oversaw its 2017 debut on the public market, as well as its purchase of car shopping and trading platforms Autolist and CarOffer.
