The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the largest charitable foundation in the world, has appointed a new chief legal officer, 18-year employee Lauren Bright.

Bright is replacing the Seattle-based foundation’s first lawyer, Connie Collingsworth, who has retired after 20 years as legal chief. For the last four years, Collingsworth also has been chief operating officer.
