Prominent tech attorney Holly Windham is stepping down as chief legal and people officer of Rackspace Technology in the wake of the cloud computing company’s decision to separate the legal and HR roles, a shift that would have reduced her responsibilities.

The San Antonio-based company disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday that “as part of an organizational alignment” the company is splitting the roles. “With this change,” the filing said, Windham gave up her HR duties Friday and will leave the company entirely by Feb. 28.
