Electronic data discovery — EDD — has escalated into a hot buzz word in the legal tech industry. As with any truly hyped acronym, there’s a lot of vague talk and tons of generalities.

And with so-called EDD vendors appearing faster than the proverbial proliferation of coat hangers, it can be difficult for firms to cut through the noise and make the right decisions about hiring vendors. Vendor white papers and brochures have become almost generic, all touting the ability to process more than 300 file types and claiming decades of experience.
