A federal judge in Boston who has served for more than 35 years retired from the bench, effective Sept. 16, according to a statement from the court.

U.S. Senior District Judge Edward F. Harrington, 90, announced his retirement, effective Saturday, in a letter last week to Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV of the District of Massachusetts.
