Earthjustice, the largest nonprofit environmental law organization in the United States, has appointed a longtime attorney at the group as its new president.

The San Francisco-based nonprofit announced Thursday that Abigail Dillen will become its next president on Oct. 1, when current president Trip Van Noppen retires. Van Noppen, who led Earthjustice during its battle against the Dakota Access Pipeline, its defense of the federal Clean Power Plan and its filing of 95 lawsuits against the Trump administration, announced his plan to retire last November.
