Chelsea Grayson’s first year as general counsel of American Apparel was full, to say the least.

“We had an investigation into the CEO and then a termination of the CEO,” she explains. “We had the onboarding of an entirely new management team to replace the old management team. We put in a poison pill. We experienced a union attempt. We experienced a proxy contest. We were sued over 40 times if you count everything and put it all together.” Grayson went on: wrongful termination lawsuits, two defamation lawsuits against sitting directors, two proxy fraud lawsuits.
