SAN FRANCISCO—At an event that brought top-ranking officials from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to Silicon Valley to talk about the agency’s growing interest in the market for pre-IPO securities Thursday evening, enforcement chief Andrew Ceresney had an unwelcome message.
“You may not really want us to focus on the West Coast, but we are,” he said.
