SAN FRANCISCO — It wasn’t the $800 million hit Apple Inc. had feared, but the Cupertino electronics giant still got spanked with a nine-figure verdict on Friday in the Western District of Wisconsin.
A jury awarded the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) $234 million a few days after finding that Apple’s A7, A8 and A8X processors infringe patented technology developed at the university that improves the speed and efficiency of computer processing.
