SACRAMENTO — State lawmakers amended the annual bar dues bill yet again on Friday as Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye jumped into the fray over the legislation that continues to evolve in the final days of the 2016 legislation.

The latest changes, not yet available to the public Friday morning, generally maintain requirements—added a week ago—that the State Bar of California comply with state open-records and open-meetings laws but add exemptions for the bar’s judicial nominations work and for personally identifying information about those seeking admission to the bar, according to a legislative source familiar with work on the bill. The bar would also be given until April 1 to comply with open-meeting requirements.
