Dentons has added Lissi Mojica and Kevin Greenleaf to its intellectual property practice in Silicon Valley. The pair departed from Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner and specializes in post-grant litigation before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. During a 19-year tenure at the USPTO, Mojica served as the first director of the Central Reexamination Unit. Greenleaf, a former computer engineer, has significant experience handling litigation-driven inter partes reviews, re-exams and post-grant proceedings. See story online. Intellectual property litigation partners Jeffrey Lokey and Shawn Hansen have joined Nixon Peabody. Lokey, who advises clients on patent litigation and trade secret litigation, jumped to the firm’s Palo Alto office from Greenberg Traurig. Hansen, who will represent clients in the technology and media industries from Nixon Peabody’s Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices, joined from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. See story online. Goodwin Procter has named Lynda Galligan as chairwoman of its Silicon Valley office. Galligan succeeds Anthony McCusker, who will continue to serve on the firm’s executive committee and lead the firm’s technology practice. Galligan, a partner since 2007, is a member of the firm’s ERISA and executive compensation practice.

Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein has named Kelly Dermody the managing partner of its San Francisco office. Dermody serves on the executive committee of the firm and chairs its employment law practice group.

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has added David Gershon in the San Francisco office as a partner in the financial services and banking practice. He joins the firm from Bingham McCutchen. He focuses on securities and general corporate matters for financial institutions and technology companies.

Anna Hsia has joined Internet law boutique ZwillGen in its San Francisco office. She will be handling privacy-related counseling and litigation matters. Hsia comes from Goodwin Procter, where her focus was on business litigation and privacy issues.

Paul Rutter rejoined Gilchrist & Rutter, a Los Angeles-based commercial real estate and business law firm, as of counsel. He cofounded the firm in 1983 and served as its managing shareholder until 2006. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of major transactions at Maguire Properties, a publicly held REIT.

Buchalter Nemer has added Keri Borders as a partner in its litigation practice group in Los Angeles. She joins from Kelley Drye & Warren. She has an entertainment and class action litigation-focused practice, as well as an expertise in complex contract and business tort disputes, false advertising and deceptive trade practices litigation, and employment discrimination matters.

Asim Desai has joined Gordon & Rees‘ Los Angeles office from Carlson, Calladine & Peterson. At Gordon & Rees, he’s a partner in the insurance, tort and product liability, class action and commercial litigation practice groups, and he serves as cochairman of the bad faith/extra-contractual practice group. Todd Kinnear has joined the San Diego office of Gordon & Rees from the San Diego city attorney’s office. As a partner in the firm’s employment and commercial litigation practice groups, he represents corporations, officers and directors in complex business and employment disputes.

Laura Smith has been elevated to partner in Gordon & Rees‘ San Francisco office, where she focuses her practice on insurance coverage. She received her J.D. from UC-Hastings College of the Law in 1988. Tara Martin has been elevated to partner in the firm’s Orange County office, where she focuses her practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on commercial litigation and employment law. She graduated from Western State University College of Law.

Archer Norris has promoted Walnut Creek-based Noël Caughman to partner. As a member of the firm’s business, health-care and employment law practice groups, she specializes in the representation of hospitals, business entities and financial institutions.

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has elevated six of its attorneys to partner in California. Leo Caseria, a member of the antitrust and trade regulation practice group, is based in the Los Angeles office. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2005. Aytan Dahukey, a member of the corporate practice group, is based in the Century City office. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2004. John Dineen,a member of the business trial practice group, is based in the San Diego office. He received his J.D. from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 2002. Tobin Dommer, a member of the corporate practice group, is based in the Palo Alto office. He received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2000. Christopher Hale, a member of the government contracts, international trade and investigations practice group in the Los Angeles office, received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2004. Matthew Sonne, a member of the labor and employment practice group, is based in the Orange County office. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2005.
