PALO ALTO — Winston & Strawn’s Silicon Valley office, which opened in September, has poached an IP litigation partner from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

David Wang is the fifth lateral to come aboard Winston’s IP practice nationwide in the last six months, according to the firm. In August, Winston brought on a group of Washington, D.C., lawyers specializing in litigation before the International Trade Commission from Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner.

Wang advises on infringement litigation, adversarial licensing negotiations and technology agreements, and his clients at Orrick included a number of large Asian technology companies such as Fujitsu Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and Toshiba. It is unclear whether he will bring those or other clients with him. A trained electrical engineer, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the field, Wang joined Orrick as partner in 2002, one of a group of 10 to be swept up from the bankrupt Los Angeles IP boutique Lyon & Lyon.

David Enzminger, managing partner of Winston’s Valley outpost, said in a statement that the firm was “delighted” to have him. “In addition to enhancing our Northern California bench strength, David’s practice provides deep experience in the electronics, communications and semiconductor industries, as well as a strong presence in Asian markets.”

Wang did not respond to a request for comment.
