PALO ALTO — Bay Area attorneys from Shearman & Sterling and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati came to the deal table for Western Digital's $685 million acquisition of Virident Systems.
Irvine hard drive maker Western Digital will pay cash in order for its subsidiary HGST to take over Virident, a server-side flash storage company. The deal is geared toward extending the company's reach in one of the hottest segments of the enterprise and cloud computing space. The company said it was not the only bidder for Virident, according to Reuters.
