Teledyne Technologies Inc. creates electronic components, instruments and communications equipment for the U.S. government and commercial customers around the world. Spun off from Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Teledyne in 1999, a conglomerate that at one point owned more than 150 companies in industries ranging from aerospace to dental (remember the Waterpik?), Teledyne Technologies is based in Thousand Oaks. The company now serves such markets as deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, oceanographic research, air and water quality environmental monitoring and medical imaging. The company reported 2011 revenues of $1.94 billion, up 18 percent from the previous year.

THE QUICK BIO

Melanie Cibik, general counsel of Teledyne Technologies, works in California but reflects her company’s strong roots in Pittsburgh. Born there and a 1984 graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Law (with a 1981 bachelor’s in international relations and economics from Georgetown University), Cibik cheerfully jokes about her 17-month-old son’s extensive Pittsburgh Steelers wardrobe and continued personal and professional connections to the Steel City.
