SAN FRANCISCO In fending off billion-dollar copyright claims, Google lawyer Robert Van Nest on Tuesday turned to the very words of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and to a low-tech prop: a filing cabinet.
A speech Ellison delivered at a conference saying the company was “flattered” when the Android operating system hit the market showed that Oracle condoned Google’s use of its Java technology, Van Nest told jurors in U.S. District Judge William Alsup’s court on the second day of the patent and copyright infringement trial.
