- O'Melveny & Myers is defending Abbott Laboratories in a pending class action against the company and two other co-defendants, Procter & Gamble and SPD Swiss Precision Diagnostics GMBH.
- The complaint accuses the companies of siphoning customers' medical data to third-party tech companies through the use of tracking tools embedded on the website for one of SPD's brands, Clearblue.
- SPD was founded in 2007 as a joint venture between P&G and Alere, a company later acquired by Abbott.
O'Melveny and Myers has stepped in to represent Illinois-based health care company Abbott Laboratories in a pending data privacy class action, which accuses the defendants of sharing patients' protected health and personally identifiable information with third-party Big Tech companies via a website that sells at-home testing kits.
