Google is following fellow tech giant Meta, announcing on Thursday that it will remove links to Canadian news from its search, news and discover products in Canada in response to what it calls an “unworkable” online news law.

“Bill C-18 has become law and remains unworkable,” Kent Walker, president of global affairs with Google and parent Alphabet, wrote in a blog post. “The Government has not given us reason to believe that the regulatory process will be able to resolve structural issues with the legislation.”
