Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday signed wide-ranging legislation forcing companies to disclose more information about their pay practices in a move that could impact employers beyond California.

Starting Jan. 1, 2023, Senate Bill 1162 will require companies with 15 or more workers to provide within their job postings the salary or hourly wage range for a position  Employers, upon request, must also give pay-scale information to workers for positions they currently hold.
