Plaintiffs lawyers said they want a federal judge to award additional attorney fees and costs as a monetary sanction against Facebook and its law firm, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, for discovery misconduct in the litigation over the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

The request, filed on Thursday, comes after U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria held a Sept. 15 sanctions hearing. Chhabria hasn’t ruled on the plaintiffs’ motion but asked lawyers to submit briefing on what type of actions he could take: monetary sanctions to compensate the lawyers for their fees and costs or a punitive sanction, or fine, which could require a trial.
