Susman Godfrey filed a data privacy lawsuit on behalf of Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, Tuesday in California Northern District Court. The complaint targets Octopus Data for allegedly selling and distributing software which enables users to ‘scrape’ data from social media accounts. Lawyers have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 3:22-cv-03921, Meta Platforms Inc., v. Octopus Data, Inc.
