Now that California’s corporate board diversity requirement laws have been struck down, some in-house legal department leaders might be wondering whether certain initiatives at their companies, including diversity guidelines and policies for outside law firms, are on shaky ground. 

The answer, at this point, isn’t entirely clear. But Jennifer Rubin, member and co-chair of the environmental, social and governance practice at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo in San Diego, doesn’t think legal chiefs should be particularly concerned.
