Luminar Technologies paid Chief Legal Officer Alan Prescott nearly $30 million in total compensation in 2021 after hiring him away from Tesla last April, Orlando, Florida-based Luminar said in a regulatory filing.

Prescott spent more than three years in legal leadership roles at Tesla and was acting general counsel when he departed. Luminar, a maker of sensors used by autonomous vehicles that’s backed by billionaire Peter Thiel, went public in 2020 by merging with special purpose acquisition company Gores Metropoulos Inc.
