A conservative political group has sought and received state judiciary documents related to Leondra Kruger’s 2014 nomination to California’s Supreme Court, a sign that potential opponents are eyeing her as a possible nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court or other high-level appointment in the Biden administration.

America Rising Squared, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit whose leaders have ties to the Republican Party, filed a request with the Judicial Council on Aug. 30 for Commission on Judicial Appointments records on Kruger’s qualifications, evaluations and financial disclosures collected as she was vetted for associate justice seven years ago.
