With just days to go before he faces a recall election, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday appointed 23 judges, including an associate justice to the First District Court of Appeal.

Newsom nominated Alameda County Superior Court Judge Victor Rodriguez to serve on Division Three of the First District appellate court in San Francisco. Rodriguez has served as a judge in the Alameda County trial court since 2018, after working for three years as senior staff attorney to California Supreme Court Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar.
