Lured by lower taxes, lateral move opportunities at Am Law 100 firms and a robust economy — and sometimes personal reasons — younger lawyers are leaving jobs at Big Law firms on the coasts and flocking to firms in Texas.

“We saw an influx of resumes in 2021, particularly from California and New York,” said Yvette Ostolaza, the managing partner of Sidley Austin’s Dallas office, who is the chair-elect of the firm’s managing committee, a member of the executive committee and global co-leader of the litigation practice.
