To the dismay of some lawyers, virtual jury civil trials are being held in various U.S. courtrooms. These lawyers’ main gripe with virtual trials is the inability to directly connect with remote jurors, especially since many could be juggling various distractions while listening remotely from home. 

“I think people are concerned about, how do you know if they are engaged when they’re not present?” noted Daniel Jeck, a Philadelphia-based plaintiffs attorney at Eisenberg, Rothweiler, Winkler, Eisenberg & Jeck. “It’s hard to tell if they are engaged or not.”
