A bankruptcy judge on Wednesday ordered Los Angeles plaintiffs firm Girardi Keese and its founder, Tom Girardi, into Chapter 7 proceedings, leaving thousands of lawsuits on hold and now under the microscope of trustees.

Creditors filed involuntary bankruptcy petitions last month after a federal judge issued a $2 million contempt judgment against Girardi and his Los Angeles law firm for failing to pay four clients in settlements over Boeing’s 2018 crash of the Lion Air 610 aircraft in Indonesia.
