Citing praise for his’ “brilliant intellect, first-class temperament, and boundless humanity,” a state bar committee has concluded California Supreme Court nominee Martin Jenkins is “exceptionally well qualified” to serve as an associate justice.

The Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation gave its highest rating to Jenkins in advance of his confirmation hearing Tuesday before the Commission on Judicial Appointments. Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Presiding Justice J. Anthony Kline of the First District Court of Appeal will preside over what is expected to be a friendly confirmation hearing.
