California’s high court handed a win to the state in the ongoing “struggles for power” between American Indian tribes and the federal government in a decision over gaming.
In a 73-page ruling, the California Supreme Court affirmed an appeals court decision finding that the governor has the authority to concur with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior to allow casino-style gaming on land taken into federal trust for a tribe.
