The policymaking body for the federal judiciary said Friday that it approved a series of recommendations to increase security for federal judges in the wake of the fatal shooting at a New Jersey trial judge’s home.

U.S. District Judge Esther Salas’ son was killed and her husband wounded last month after being shot by an attorney later identified as a “men’s rights activist,” who previously had a case in Salas’ court. The lawyer, Roy Den Hollander, was later found dead of a suspected suicide.
