The nomination of McGregor Scott, President Trump’s choice to lead the U.S. attorney’s office in California’s eastern district, cleared the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday on a voice vote.

Scott enjoys the support of California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the committee’s ranking member, and there was no debate over or even discussion of his appointment Thursday. Scott did not attend the hearing and instead was scheduled to hold an afternoon press conference in Sacramento to tout recent gun-running indictments.
