Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel partner and Delaware intellectual property attorney Dennis J. Butler was honored with Penn State Harrisburg’s Alumni Achievement Award.
The Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Achievement Award is given annually to an alumnus who has risen to success, demonstrates leadership in his or her profession, is active in community affairs and has made a significant contribution to the betterment of society.
Each of Penn State Harrisburg’s five academic schools honors an alumnus each year.
This year, Butler was honored by the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, from which he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology and, subsequently with a master’s degree in engineering mechanics from Penn State’s University Park.
Michael S. Swoyer joined Blank Rome’s Philadelphia office as an associate in the corporate, M&A and securities group.
Swoyer comes to Blank Rome from the Delaware Counsel Group.
He concentrates his practice on general corporate and business matters, representing clients in connection with a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, secured and unsecured financings, refinancings, reorganizations, stock issuances, conversions, domestications, divestitures, formations, dissolutions and ratifications of defective corporate acts.
Swoyer also advises clients on issues related to the governance of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott added associate Shari Maynard to its Philadelphia office and litigation division.
She focuses her practice in the areas of general corporate and commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations and defending claims brought pursuant to the federal False Claims Act.
Maynard earned her law degree this year from Pennsylvania State Universityâ€”Dickinson Law.
Elected and Appointed
John H. McCarthy, a partner in the Philadelphia office of Rawle & Henderson, was elected vice president of the West Chester Food Cupboard.
McCarthy has more than 25 years of litigation experience and focuses his practice on the defense of premises liability and construction accident claims.
He serves as regional and local counsel for insured and self-insured clients, including universities, colleges, general contractors, subcontractors, owners, convenience markets and hotels.
He is a graduate of the Villanova University School of Law.
He has published numerous articles on developments in premises liability and construction law.
He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Jeremy Zacharias, an associate in the Mount Laurel, New Jersey, office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, was selected to join LAMP—the Leadership and Mentoring Program of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).
The LAMP mission is to provide interaction, career development and advancement opportunities for industry professionals who come from diverse and traditionally underrepresented groups and backgrounds.
Zacharias is a member of Marshall Dennehey’s professional liability department, where he defends attorneys, accountants, corporate directors and officers, and other licensed professionals in a variety of matters.
He is a graduate of Drexel University and the Rutgers Law School—Camden.
