Francis Malofiy, a lawyer who gained notoriety for suing rock stars—most famously Led Zeppelin for copyright infringement over their 1971 song “Stairway to Heaven”—refuses to take a final bow, claiming that the federal judges who suspended him for breaking conduct rules violated his right to a fair trial.

In a recent filing to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court asking for his suspension to be reconsidered, the Media, Pennsylvania-based lawyer claimed he’s uncovered “new evidence” that suggests the federal judicial panel that suspended him had sealed his fate before he even called his first witness to the stand.
