A male student at the University of Pennsylvania has sued the school for alleged ineptitude and bias in the disciplinary process it uses to handle complaints of sexual assault on campus.
The pseudonymous John Doe’s lawsuit adds to the growing attention being paid to campus sexual assault and the challenges universities face in creating fair and balanced internal disciplinary processes. He alleged that a “sham investigation” has brought him to the brink of expulsion and irreparable harm, and suggested that any further pursuit of university remedies would be futile, placing the issue appropriately before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
