Bill Cosby’s lawsuit against his accuser, Andrea Constand, might be a scare tactic, an evidence-gathering strategy or a “part of the theatrics” of the high-profile case, criminal defense attorneys said. But they did not see the breach of contract complaint as having a grave impact on the Cosby prosecution.

One attorney, Dennis McAndrews of McAndrews Law Offices, called it “a distraction at most,” for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, which charged Cosby with one count of ­aggravated indecent assault.
