The state Superior Court has rejected an effort by Philadelphia prosecutors to reinstate the conviction of Monsignor William J. Lynn, the first Catholic Church administrative official convicted of endangering the welfare of children abused by other priests.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office late last year had asked the Superior Court to reconsider its ruling that overturned Lynn’s conviction and granted Lynn a new trial. Lynn had been convicted for endangering the welfare of children, but the appeals court determined that the trial court had admitted too many “unfairly prejudicial other-acts evidence.”
