Ten judges have been named as potential candidates for three vacancies to be filled on the state Supreme Court in the 2015 judicial election, sources have told The Legal, and one Philadelphia attorney has said he is considering running.

The integrity of the high court looms as the central focus of the campaign for an exceptionally wide field of expected candidates. With former Justice Seamus P. McCaffery stepping down from the bench last week, Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille reaching his mandatory retirement date at year’s end and Justice Correale F. Stevens’ interim term set to expire at the end of 2015, Pennsylvania voters are set to elect three justices to the court in November 2015.
