Albright College may be held responsible for ensuring the safety of a student who was beaten in his dorm room as part of a revenge attack, the state Superior Court has ruled in a nonprecedential opinion.

A split panel Tuesday overturned a Berks County court’s dismissal of claims against the school in Murray v. Albright College. The trial court had originally ruled that plaintiff Patrick A. Murray assumed the risk of the assault by opening the door to his attackers.
