The Pennsylvania School Boards Solicitors Association honored Peacock Keller partner Barbara A. Graham with its President’s Award for Distinguished Career Achievement at the association’s School Law Workshop in Hershey, Pa.
The award honors a school solicitor who has contributed to Pennsylvania school law through achievement of professional accomplishment, and has donated energy and talent to the association, its members and Pennsylvania public schools.
Graham has dedicated 28 years to serving as a school district solicitor in Allegheny, Washington and Greene counties, as well as special counsel to other school entities throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Graham focuses her practice on school law and employment law.
Charles J. Queenan Jr. was named chairman emeritus of K&L Gates.
Queenan served as the firm’s chairman from 1976 through 1990.
He is the only partner of the firm to be designated as chairman emeritus.
Queenan also served as chairman of the board of directors of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and chairman of the board of trustees of Carnegie Mellon University.
Michael J. Savona was a featured speaker at the 55th annual Pennsylvania State Tax Collectors Association convention in Johnstown, Pa.
Savona, who serves as PSTCA general counsel, delivered his annual update on statewide litigation concerning tax collectors and tax collection.
Savona is a member of the land use and zoning, litigation, municipal law, and real estate practice groups at Eastburn and Gray.
Brett M. Waldron joined Gross McGinley as an attorney in the firm’s Allentown, Pa., office.
He joined the firm’s litigation group and employment law group.
Waldron provides support in all aspects of civil litigation, including commercial litigation, municipal law and medical malpractice defense.
Christian D. Bareford joined The Law Offices of Ira Weiss as an associate.
Bareford is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Brandon S. O’Donnell became an associate with Abom & Kutulakis on Oct. 24 in Carlisle, Pa.
The Knox Law Institute, a service of Knox McLaughlin Gornall & Sennett, hosted its inaugural “Professional Advisor Symposium” on Oct. 23, offering continuing education for accounting, finance and insurance professionals.
Session topics included estate administration, bankruptcy basics, grantor trusts, long-term care solutions, shale energy, tax return disclosure standards, intellectual property and more.
The event also featured keynote speaker James C. Bly Jr., chairman and CEO of Headwaters SC LP in Sewickley, Pa.
Net proceeds from the symposium will be donated to the Erie Community Foundation and the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation.
