Ken Milner, special counsel to Kraut Harris in Blue Bell, Pa., received the 2013 Special Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Milner chairs the PBA Solo and Small Firm Practice Section and dues review subcommittee of the membership development committee.

He was recognized for his commitment to reinvigorating the PBA Solo and Small Firm Conference, and his dedication toward assisting solo practitioners facing financial difficulty.

Ballard Spahr partner Jean Hemphill is scheduled to moderate a panel discussion at the Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health annual conference: "Bringing Healthcare Innovation to Greater Philadelphia."

The panel will address the ongoing evolution and implementation of health insurance exchanges.

The panel is set from 8:30 to 10 a.m. June 6 at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue.

Cashel, general counsel and corporate secretary of Environmental Tectonics Corp., presented "The M&A Symphony: Orchestrating the Deal and Managing the Process" at the Delaware Valley chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel‘s fifth annual In-House Counsel Conference on April 23 in Philadelphia.

Hanley is co-chair of the firm’s publicly held companies practice.

Hong is co-chair of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice.

Kimberly Alford Rice of KLA Marketing Associates presented "Marketing Basics to Survive and Thrive in 2013" to the Middlesex County, N.J., Bar Association‘s lawyer membership.

Rice outlined how lawyers can make their network work for them to cultivate and forge strategic relationships for business development.

Rice helps lawyers and law firms generate profitable new business through business development methodologies and training/coaching programs.

Events

Advancing Civics Education, a comprehensive initiative of the Philadelphia Bar Association, is scheduled to host a mock trial from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the James A. Byrne U.S. Courthouse Ceremonial Courtroom.

Twenty high schools are participating in this year’s ACE program.

The case study focuses on the social media issues in Snyder v. Blue Mountain School District.

Duane Morris and the Dr. Al Mashaikhi Legal Office announced their joint venture, Dr. Said Al Mashaikhi and Partner Law Firm.

The Muscat, Oman, office will facilitate investment and trade to and from Oman.

The Duane Morris offices in Singapore and the United States will assist with their respective country’s free trade agreements.

A reception took place May 7 in Muscat to celebrate the new venture.
