Lifetime Achievement Awards

The Legal will be presenting lifetime achievement awards as part of its 170th anniversary and is accepting recommendations for attorneys from all corners of the profession who have left an imprint on the legal history of Pennsylvania over the years.

Events

Judge John R. Padova is set to preside at the naturalization ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the ceremonial courtroom at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Tamala Edwards, an anchor with WPVI-TV/Channel 6, is the distinguished guest speaker. Christopher Anglestein, immigration services officer, is set to present motions.

Aida Ayala, naturalization clerk, will administer the oath to the new citizens. Marc J. Zucker, chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association‘s board of governors, is set to offer remarks on behalf of the association.

Approximately 115 applicants from 38 countries are set to be naturalized.

Speakers

Michael Homans, a shareholder in the labor and employment practice group at Flaster Greenberg, was selected by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute to participate as a panelist at the "Understanding Damages and Indemnities in Commercial Contracts" seminar.

Homans is set to present the segment titled "Damages Under Employment and Consulting Agreements."

The seminar is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the PBI Conference Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and is approved for 3 Pennsylvania CLE credits.

Jerry Lehocky, a partner at Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano, is set to be interviewed as president-elect of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice on WYFL AM-1180, Executive Leaders Radio, at 1:30 p.m. March 15.

Lehocky will discuss the civil justice system, tort reform and workers’ compensation legislation.

Elected and Appointed

David Duffus, a partner with ParenteBeard, was appointed to the planning committee for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants‘ 2013 Forensic and Valuation Services Conference.

Duffus will play a key role in selecting conference curriculum, topics and speakers for the November conference in Las Vegas. •
