Claudia Huot was named a partner in Wisler Pearlstine.

Huot concentrates her practice in the area of school law. She has focused on this area for over 11 years, representing school districts, charter schools and educational management organizations, particularly in the areas of special education and student rights.

Mark S. Cappuccio was nominated to the judiciary committee of the Montgomery Bar Association.

Cappuccio is a shareholder in Eastburn and Gray’s land use and zoning, litigation, real estate and tax assessment appeals practice groups.

The judiciary committee of the Montgomery Bar Association is charged with interviewing and rating candidates for the position of judge on the Court of Common Pleas.

Kevin Buraks, an attorney with Portnoff Law Associates, was elected president of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.

Lee A. Zoeller, chair of Reed Smith’s state tax practice, was named corporate counsel for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.

Zoeller will provide services to the IPT on a pro bono basis while still maintaining his full-time practice and leadership role at Reed Smith.

As corporate counsel, Zoeller will advise the institute’s board, officers and executive director on legal issues arising in connection with the institute’s policies and practices.

Ballard Spahr partner Katayun I. Jaffari was elected to the executive committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s business law section.

Jaffari assists companies in the biotechnology, energy and technology sectors with complex securities transactions.

Her practice also includes business counseling, capital raising and mergers and acquisitions.


David H. Cook, Sarah J. Miley and Jacques L. Moye Sr. joined Thorp Reed & Armstrong.

Cook, an associate in the commercial and corporate litigation practice group, focuses his practice on sports law, white-collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation, appellate matters and corporate law.

Miley, an associate in the labor and employment practice group, concentrates her practice on employment and labor related issues, including labor arbitration, employment litigation and compliance issues.

Moye, an associate in the general corporate, mergers and acquisitions practice group, focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities and general corporate matters.


Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Andrew K. Stutzman moderated "The CFPB’s Regulatory and Enforcement Agenda" at the American Conference Institute’s 10th National Forum on Residential Mortgage Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement on January 17 in San Francisco.

The panel discussed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s regulatory and supervisory agenda, new proposals on servicing and qualified mortgages, liability risks, examinations, confidentiality and unfair, deceptive or abusive acts and practices.
