Elected and Appointed

Maria E. Harris, an associate with Martin Banks, was elected the vice chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

The YLD was established to support the overall legal community in the Philadelphia region by promoting and honing the interests of young lawyers by providing forums for education, networking and community outreach.

Harris, who focuses her practice on social security and long-term disability, is also a member of the minority bar committee of the PBA.

Dechert announced that 12 attorneys have accepted invitations to join the firm’s partnership effective January 1. The newly elected partners are Abigail Bell, Mauricio A. España, José-Manuel García Represa, Christopher Garner, Joshua D.N. Hess, Donald C. Le Gower, Timothy Lindsay, Stewart McQueen, John Eric Podgore, Thomas A. Rayski, Amy L. Rudd and William J. Tuttle.

The new partners span the firm’s international network of offices and represent the corporate, finance and real estate, financial services, intellectual property, international dispute resolution and litigation groups.


Kristen E. Polovoy and Julie H. Chelius, attorneys with Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads, were planners and presenters for the Perrin Conferences CLE webinar “Consumer Fraud Product Labeling Class Actions: One Label, Very Different Perspectives — Plaintiffs, Defendants and the Government.”

Polovoy serves as of counsel in the firm’s litigation department in its Cherry Hill, N.J., office.

Chelius is a partner in the litigation department at the Philadelphia office, focusing on the defense of products liability claims.


Lori P. Lewis joined Capehart Scatchard‘s workers’ compensation department in its Mt. Laurel, N.J., office.

Lewis represents insurance carriers and employers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims at all stages of litigation.
