The four lawyers for former Penn State President Graham Spanier, all either former judges, prosecutors or both, called out another former prosecutor and judge, Louis Freeh, for what they said was a “blundering, indefensible indictment” of their client.
Speaking for the four attorneys at a press conference in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis partner and former judge Timothy K. Lewis said Spanier’s lawyers know what an independent and complete investigation looks like, but said Freeh, a former FBI director, failed to provide one when hired by the school to investigate how it mishandled reports of sex abuse by former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
