Barbin & O’Connell and Howland Hess Guinan Torpey & Cassidy merged their firms, renamed Howland Hess Guinan Torpey Cassidy & O’Connell, and maintain offices in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
The Duquesne University School of Law and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Costa Rica entered into an academic agreement that includes faculty and judge exchanges between the two organizations.
Duquesne University President Charles J. Dougherty signed the five-year agreement on April 4 with Luis Paulino Mora Mora , president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica.
The agreement is designed to enhance legal and judicial education.

Gotanda and Suzanne Ilene Schiller, are presenting “Sustainability Legal Issues and Risk Management Strategies for Existing Buildings” as part of the Building Owners and Managers Association of Philadelphia.

The Tort Talk Expo 2012 CLE Seminar, hosted by Daniel E. Cummins of Foley, Cognetti, Comerford, Cimini & Cummins , is set to take place May 3 at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs casino in Wilkes-Barre.
The Pennsylvania CLE board approved the seminar for 1 ethics and 2 substantive credits.

Stevens and Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and will be presided over by former Luzerne County Judge Joseph Van Jura .
Luzerne County Common Pleas President Judge Thomas F. Burke Jr . will provide a “State of the Luzerne County Bench” presentation.
