A group of Pennsylvania drillers has asked a federal judge to hold the U.S. Forest Service in contempt for refusing to comply with the court’s 2009 injunction that lifted the federal agency’s de facto ban on drilling in the 512,000-acre Allegheny National Forest.

On Dec. 21, plaintiff Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association, a nonprofit trade association that represents Pennsylvania oil and natural gas companies, filed proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law following a November 2011 hearing on the contempt motion it filed against the Forest Service in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
