Settling an online privacy dispute, a federal judge in Pennsylvania shot down wiretapping and surveillance claims against AddShoppers, Nutrisystem and Vivint, finding that the plaintiffs' information wasn't disclosed for targeted advertisements, among other reasons.

In a Nov. 25 decision, U.S. District Judge Joel H. Slomsky for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissed plaintiffs Amelia Ingrao and Elizabeth Pacana's suit against AddShoppers, Nutrisystem, and Vivint for lack of standing and failure to state a claim under the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act, among other privacy laws out of California. In Ingrao v. AddShoppers, the plaintiffs accused the defendants of compiling their personal information, which AddShoppers allegedly used to send targeted ads.
