A federal judge in Pennsylvania approved a $3.65 million class action settlement and nearly $1.5 million in attorney fees to resolve claims against a student loan provider that allegedly charged borrowers for making payments online or over the phone.
In an Aug. 7 decision, U.S. District Judge Patricia L. Dodge of the Western District of Pennsylvania affirmed the plaintiffs’ unopposed motion for final approval of their class action settlement against Educational Computer Systems Inc., concluding the settlement was ”fair, reasonable, and adequate” under Rule 23(e).
