A Philadelphia social services agency has agreed to pay $6.5 million to the estate of a child who was beaten to death while living in a foster home, according to Kline & Specter partner Nadeem Bezar.

Bezar, who represented the estate of 3-year-old Hope Jones alongside co-counsel Sherrell Dandy, said the parties reached the settlement Dec. 15, resolving the matter for about the highest amount available with the defendants’ limited coverage plan.
