The Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act provides no-fault coverage for on-the-job injuries. Nearly two million workers report being the victims of workplace violence each year. Workplace violence is any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats, intimidation and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide.
Victims of workplace violence are generally entitled to compensation benefits under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act if they were acting in the course and scope of their employment when the incident occurred. Employers are required to provide workers with a safe working environment, free from hazards likely to cause serious injury or death.
